AbstractThe most important anatomic structure seen during surgery of parotid gland is the facial nerve. The anatomic location and topographic course of this nerve must be well known during surgery not to cause an injury to the nerve. Retromandibular vein passes inside parotid gland mostly medial to facial nerve. Marginal mandibular branch of facial nerve which passes lateral to this vein can be found and with retrograde follow-up main truncus can be reached. In this case report; we presented a case of retromandibular vein passing lateral to facial nerve under the light of current literature emphasizing the importance of anatomic variations. |

ÖzetParotis bezine yönelik cerrahi girişimler sırasında karşılaşılan en önemli anatomik yapı fasiyal sinirdir. Cerrahi operasyon sırasında bu sinire zarar vermemek için sinirin yerleşiminin ve seyrinin iyi bilinmesi gerekir. Retromandibular ven, parotis bezinin içinde çoğunlukla fasiyal sinirin mediyalinde seyreder ve retromandibular venin lateralinde seyreden marjinal mandibular sinir bulunarak retrograd takiple fasiyal sinir ana trunkusu bulunabilir. Bu yazımızda, fasiyal sinirin lateralinden seyreden retromandibular ven olgusu, güncel literatür bilgileri ışığında, anatomik varyasyonların önemi vurgulanarak sunulmuştur. |
