AbstractCentral neurocytomas constitute between 0.1 to 0.5% of all intracranial tumors. This World Health Organization (WHO) grade 2 tumor generally affects young adults in the third decade of life. Although most commonly noted in the anterior aspect of the lateral ventricles, extraventricular localizations have been reported. The most common symptoms of this entity are associated with obstructive hydrocephalus.. Although it generally portends a favorable prognosis, a malignant clinical course including craniospinal spread and recurrence after total resection despite a benign clinical course and histopathology have been reported. Since central neurocytomas share histopathological features with oligodendrogliomas, iImmunohistochemistry is useful in distinguishing these two diagnoses.. We present a case report of a patient who underwent three resections with diagnoses of central neurocytoma, oligodendroglioma and central neurocytoma again, respectively and introduce characteristic features of central neurocytomas. |

ÖzetSantral nörositom tüm intrakraniyal tümörlerin yaklaşık %0.1-0.5'ini oluşturmaktadır. Genellikle genç erişkinlerde, Dünya Sağlık Örgütü?nün(World Health Organization (WHO)) grade 2 olarak sınırlandırdığı, iyi prognozlu, malign klinik gidişin daha nadir olduğu bir tümördür. En sık yerleşim yeri lateral ventrikülün ön kısmıdır. Benign histopatoloji ve klinik gidişe rağmen total rezeksiyon sonrası bile kraniospinal yayılım ve nüks olabilmektedir. Patolojik olarak oligodendrogliomlarla benzerlik göstermekte ve ayırım için immünohistokimyasal çalışmalar gerekmektedir. Biz bu yazımızda ilk operasyonda santral nörositom, 2. operasyonda oligodendrogliom ve son operasyonda tekrar santral nörositom tanısı konan bir hastayı, santral nörositomun genel özellikleriyle birlikte sunuyoruz. |
